As a company that has long been a proponent of female empowerment, gender equality is an issue
that’s close to our hearts. Seventy-five percent of the David Yurman executive committee are women, and the

Filmmaker and Evan Yurman’s wife, Ku-Ling Yurman chose to become an executive producer of the new
documentary “This Changes Everything” as a “way to move the needle.” “Our objective is to bring about
actual change,” says Ku-Ling. “We have a collective responsibility to take ownership of this issue and activate
a higher standard for gender equality."

The movie, which premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, shares firsthand accounts of
Hollywood’s history of systemic discrimination backed by compelling data from The Geena Davis Institute
on Gender in Media. Only one woman has ever won an Oscar for best director in the past 100 years. In
2017, 90% of writers for the top-grossing films were men.  

 

Interviewees include Academy Award–winning actor and advocate Geena Davis; television producer,
screenwriter and author Shonda Rhimes; director and screenwriter Judd Apatow; actresses Meryl Streep,
Jessica Chastain and Reese Witherspoon. “This Changes Everything” also seeks to provide solutions on
how we can achieve a higher standard for gender parity in media. To celebrate the documentary’s release,
select David Yurman boutiques across the country are offering complimentary tickets to exclusive
screenings on July 22.
