This summer, we partnered with installation and media artist Jihan Zencirli to bring joy to the season. Stay tuned for more collaborations, coincidences and celebrations.

The work of Turkish-American artist Jihan Zencirli (also known as Geronimo) ignites the imagination with vibrant color and impressive scale. Since 2011, she has been transforming public spaces into thrilling experiences that evoke joy and delight.

Typically consisting of hundreds (or thousands) of balloons, her commissioned work brings excitement to cultural events and celebrations, including the first anniversary of The Broad Museum in 2016, the New York City Ballet’s sixth annual Art Series and the 2018 London Design Festival. In 2017, Zencirli received the Edge award at the LA Design Festival, which described her work as “arguably the most recognizable public art installations in the country.” Zencirli also creates pieces as “gifts” for nonprofit organizations, as she did with her 2018 installation for the 50th anniversary of the Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic in Los Angeles.

This July, Zencirli’s art will fête the opening of The Tide, London’s first-ever elevated linear park along the River Thames. Created for the launch of the Turning Tides festival honoring the new green space, her vibrant temporary sculptures—25 inflated water droplets ranging from 1 to 7 meters tall—will join pieces by British artists Damien Hirst and Antony Gormley.

A Summer Celebration

David Yurman, in collaboration with Geronimo, unveiled a must-see installation in honor of the summer solstice on June 21. In New York’s Madison Square Park, huge chromatic arches—inspired by Solari—enticed visitors to walk underneath them, take photos and delight in the season.
